Covid-19 has created a number of challenges for 2020. One of the side effects of social distancing measures is wide-spread cancellation of most large fundraising events which creates a trickle-down effect of less income for local non-profits that use that money to support the community. In our case, Tri Kappa has cancelled our largest annual fundraiser, Taste of Valparaiso in May and our fall fundraising event, Trivia Night. We are still proceeding with our annual Terri Lynn Nut Sale because it is better suited to the Pandemic environment. As such, most of our fundraising nuts are in one basket. We’d like your help this year. If you normally support Trivia Night or Taste, please consider reaching out to your favorite Tri Kappa member to ask about nuts. Or send us a note via our contact form. They are available to order from now until October 22. They’ll arrive mid-November with plenty of time for holiday baking and gift-giving. Scholarships and community grants for struggling non-profits depend on Tri Kappa for assistance and are needed more than ever this year while so many are struggling with unemployment, food insecurity, and housing security.
